Nishikawa Kenai

Kenai is around 30-35 years old
Male Miqo'te, Keeper of the Sun
Bisexual, Cismale, Switch with Dominant lean
He has black hair with blue highlights, and bright white eyes

Orphaned as a child Kenai never learnt the customs and culture of the Miqo'te. He was adopted by merchants from Kugane on their travels to Gridania, growing up with far eastern customs. This includes his name, given to him by his adoptave parents. Needless to say, young Kenai felt as though he was out of place, which led him to later on take up the title of an adventurer and leave Hingashi to travel the rest of Eorzea.

Kenai is selective mute, only trusting those closest to him with his voice. Most of the time he uses paper and ink to communicate his words. The reason behind this is due to the fact he could not speak very well until his adoptive parents enrolled him into the local Kugane school at six years old. Before then he rarely spoke as he was alone and relayed on thievery to get by. Not much reason to speak. He can form full sentences if he wishes, or if strictly necessary but he prefers not to as it takes a lot of energy and is difficult for him.

Music has always been a part of Kenai's life. He writes his own songs and plays them when he can on his travels as a bard, hoping that music can express his thoughts better than words. If you are a particularly lucky traveler at an inn, you may even get to hear him sing. (He is surprisingly good.)As stereotypical as it is for bards, Kenai is a flirt. Though he does not speak with a silver tongue like other bards, he is quite gifted in the art of romance.

Kenai is also a talented swordsman. His katana was gifted to him by his uncle and he was taught the basics of kenjutsu [sword techniques and stances originating from samurai], finding a particular talent in Iaido. He can also do kyudo [traditional japanese archery] as well as wing chun [a type of chinese martial art]

Hobbies are a rare thing for Kenai to indulge in but when he does he thoroughly enjoys a good adventure book, a cup of tea, and freshly baked goods he made himself. Cooking, particularly baking is one way for him to destress.

His general information is pretty much the same. Though there are a few changes or rather, additions to his story.

After joining the scions, Minfilia taught each memember sign language so that they could communicate better with Kenai when he did not wish to speak.

WOL Kenai is a little rougher, a little meaner. Though his shoulders weigh heavy with the burdens of many and a job so important, he doesn't regret the time he spent with the people he met on his journey. WOL Kenai has PTSD and depression, he does not take medication for it though Tataru does sit down and talk him through it when it gets a little too much to handle.

Thancred: Kenai's relationsip with Thancred started slowly, flirting mutually with each other [ARR] in the short downtime between missions.

Urianger: Both Kenai and Thancred held feelings towards Urianger that only strengthened when Thancred started working closely with him in the First and Kenai's loss of him when he was called by The Cyrstal Exarch.

Ryne: How could he not love Ryne? After meeting Thancred in the First he immediately started fussing over her like a mother hen, giving her the love and attention he knew a child her age needed.

The Twins: Kenai grew extremely close to Alphinaud during the events of Heavensward, becoming a sort of older brother figure to him. The same can be said about Alisaie. He frequently spars with her and she holds him at a respect higher than anyone.
